Recent highlights:

1. Best of all, a casual who works regular shifts for a national newspaper was given backdated holiday pay - and a contract providing a minimum of three shifts per week, holiday pay and assurance of self-employment status for taxation purposes.

2. However, the Part-time Workers (Prevention of Less Favourable Treatment) Regulations 2000 stipulate that a part-time worker has the right to no less favourable treatment than full-time workers.

3. A worker currently has no statutory right to sick pay, but it is possible, for example, that the Part-Time Workers Regulations will provide this if tested
